Packaging manufacturing
Visitor sign in for packaging manufacturers
Your customers make food, so they audit you as if you did. The kiosk puts your health declaration and hygiene rules on an iPad at reception, records who accepted them and when, and has the record ready when the auditor asks.
Sign in on a demonstration kiosk, then open the fire roll call on your phone. Do not enter real details: everything typed is deleted within the hour.
From £599 setup and £150 a month plus VAT, iPad and stand included. Running today at a Derbyshire packaging site.
Who this is for
A converter whose customers audit it like a food site
Cartons, films, labels, tins and closures, most of them going to food and drink customers. The site is audited by a certification body and by those customers as well as by its own quality team. Visitors, contractors and hauliers come through reception every day, and the question on audit day is who went near the product and what they confirmed before they did.
What gets asked at reception
Three auditors, one question about the front door
Your certification body
BRCGS Packaging Materials Issue 7 asks for controlled access with a visitor reporting system, and for visitors and contractors to confirm their health before they go into manufacturing, packing or storage areas.
Your food customers
A food customer’s supplier audit asks for the same thing in its own words, because a visitor on your line is a visitor near their product. Their own standard is the one they will quote at you.
BRCGS Food visitor control, the standard your customers work to
Anybody asking about the food chain
If your customers are food manufacturers, the page written for them covers the health declaration at sign in from their side of the audit.
What the kiosk does
The declaration, accepted at sign in, kept where you can find it
Your declaration, accepted at sign in
Your health declaration and hygiene rules go on screen, and nobody is signed in until they accept them. Anyone who cannot confirm the declaration goes back and speaks to their host, and the host decides.
The exact wording, against a name
Every acceptance is stored with the person, their company, their host, the time and the exact wording they accepted. Search by name, company or date and export it when an auditor asks.
A roll call on a phone
When the alarm goes, your fire marshal opens the live list on their phone at the muster point and sees every visitor and contractor currently signed in.
Badges, if a visitor needs one
With the Secure Badge and Approval module, the kiosk holds a visitor at reception until a member of your staff approves them by PIN, then prints a badge that says who they are.

JK Powell make metal packaging for the food industry in Derbyshire. They swapped their paper book for the kiosk in under an hour. It is the only customer we name, because it is the only one we have permission to.

What it costs
Setup from £599, then £150 a month plus VAT, with the iPad, the stand, hosting and support included and nothing charged per visitor. Secure Badge and Approval is £150 a month on top, for sites that want printed badges.
Before you ask
The questions packaging sites ask on the first call
Does the kiosk store somebody’s health answers?
No. The kiosk shows your declaration and records that the visitor accepted it, with the wording and the time. It does not ask for or store an account of anybody’s symptoms, so special category health data stays out of the system. Anyone who cannot confirm the declaration speaks to their host.
Our customers audit us to different codes. Does one declaration fit?
The wording is yours, and it can be different for each site. Write it to cover what your standard and your customers ask for, and when a customer asks for something new, change it once and it applies to the next person who signs in.
What does the badge module add?
A visitor signs in and waits. A member of your staff comes to the kiosk and enters their PIN to authorise the visit, and only then does a badge print, with the visitor’s name, company, host and the date on it. It is £150 a month plus VAT on top of the platform, with the label printer included.
Can the kiosk go on the production floor?
No. It goes at reception or at a gatehouse, on the office side of the hygiene barrier. It is a tablet in a stand, not a washdown rated device.

The other things somebody may ask you to evidence
Each of these is a page about one standard, one duty or one visitor, written the same way as this one: what it actually asks for, what an iPad at reception records towards it, and where it does not help.
